The Mesa Service Center provides a fairly large outdoor area with a variety of terrain types for conducting user defined experiments. The area has relatively low traffic and if needed its easier to constrain traffic during experiment operations than may be the case on the JPL lab area. The Mesa staff will work with the users in locating the best sites for their experiment, coordinate with other Mesa users to avoid potential conflicts, and can also help with gaining access to available infrastructure such as electrical power, water, etc.

About MESA

The MESA Antenna test facility provides cost competitive, rapid access, high accuracy antenna RF performance certification and calibration services for JPL spacecraft telecommunications systems and flight instruments such as Radars and Radiometers. The facility also supports developmental RF testing and characterization in support of JPL research and technology tasks. Measurement capabilities include antenna patterns and peak gain, polarization characteristics, impedance and bandwidth, multipaction and ionization breakdown testing.
